Current models are usually fee-for-service and usually difficult to navigate. Therefore, it is essential that significant changes are made. Today’s patient is savvier now in comparison to previous consumers. Technology has enabled patients to both improve knowledge and manage individual care more efficiently. Health care organizations must address these changes and implement measures that focus on patient-centered care. As health is something that matters to patients, the goal of healthcare should be patient-centered and not provider-centered (Putera, 2007). Also, healthcare organizations must consider the role of consumer engagement and how science will affect the manner in which treatment is rendered. My current healthcare organization is taking measures to adjust to the changing needs of patients. The organization now (more than ever before) is stressing the importance of patient-centered care. The facility has implemented extra tools (pertaining to charting) to specify how the clinician contributes to individualized patient care. the facility has also implemented healthcare teams (in certain areas of the facility) to manage patient care.
