Nursing response

Write 250 words peer’s Response

Cheating Nursing Student Matt’s behavior at nursing school is unacceptable. He was cheating during the exam. He even collaborates with his classmate and “sharing” answer to each other with gesture during the exam. As Matt’s nursing school peer, I feel bothered and annoying. His exam etiquette is totally wrong and dishonest. This behavior bothers me because it is unfair that I put some effort for the exam and he just copycat my answer without thinking about the questions and answers.  As his RN peer, I’d be terrified and wrath because he graduated from nursing school. I assume he passed his clinical training and the exam. But it turns out he knows nothing about all of the bioethical and medical knowledge. He just panicked and didn’t know how to answer his peers’ questions. He just stood aside. As Matt’s patient, I feel extremely unsafe. According on that video, Matt asks back the patient about the vital signs of anything. But the patient wouldn’t know about all the medical terminology. This is ridiculous that Matt did not take it serious and just skipped the most important part, checking the patient’s plan of care. I’d feel like I’m putting myself on the edge of the cliff.  As a family member of Matt’s patient, I’d be super furious and worried. Matt’s endeavor is unacceptable to just simply ask the patient’s a few questions. Then he just inject the so-called he thought it is a soothing liquid into the IV bag without checking the patient’s plan of care. At this time, as a family member already feel uncertain and worried. When the patient suddenly has onset of respiratory problems, they just shocked and got very angry.  In my point of view, Matt’s behavior in nursing school violated the veracity. At first, he cheated on his assignment. His friend asks him out to the party and he copyrights the online article into his paper without the citation. Besides, he told a lie to his group mates that he has no time to do his part of the project. These two cases violated the veracity of the ethical principle. He did not tell the truth verbally and non verbally.  If I were a peer of Matt’s in nursing school, I would suggest him being honest and I’ll help him about the exam and the group project. Studying and working together is sometimes more productive and efficiency. Is I was aware of his cheating during the test, I’d warn him that if you do it one more time, I will notify to professor; and help him with the exam questions for the next exam. Instead of “sharing” answer during the exam.  The Nurse’s Code of Ethics is authorized by the American Nurses Association. It interprets the nursing manner and professionalism; in which the nursing care and ethical obligation (Nursingworld.org). This not only the reference for nurses, but also published to the public. We can see that Matt violated the Nurse’s Code of the Ethics. He did not comply with the principle ethics, which is the basic manners as a caregiver. He could not implement the professionalism of nursing in the hospital. He has no competency model for the patient’ safety. And seems like he lack of clinical skills and no system-based practice (Lippincott’s CoursePoints). Reference  Code of Ethics for Nurses. (n.d.).
